Sara Whittles has taught ballet to children of all ages for 22 years. From 2011 to 2016 Sara ran Miss Sara’s Ballet School in Marin County, California, where she developed a training and performance curriculum for children ages 2 to 11 years old. A recent transplant to New York City, Sara is excited to be teaching ballet to children on the Upper East Side.
Sara received all her ballet training at the San Francisco Ballet School. She danced with San Francisco Ballet in works by Balanchine, Ashton, Christensen and Smuin, among others. Sara is an ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.
In 2014 Sara conceived, choreographed and produced “The Story of the Nutcracker,” a condensed, narrated version of the holiday classic, which was performed by her students to sold out audiences each year it was performed.
Sara's hope for her students is that they develop a love for dance and music that they will carry with them throughout their lives, whether they go on to become professional ballet dancers someday or simply become devoted fans of this beautiful art form.
